Hello! I’m Jennifer Otten, an “experienced” public school music teacher in Elkhorn, Nebraska (a suburb of Omaha). I’ve been teaching elementary music and directing musicals for well over 20 years!
I began this blog based off the fact that I have struggled to find “the perfect” musical for my students on MORE than one occasion! I have spent hours scrounging through musicals at music conferences and communicating with my music teacher friends for advice as I’ve looked for something that’s “a fit” for my students. Often times, what I’ve previewed online doesn’t give me enough information to make an informed decision to purchase. Some musicals are best suited for an actual stage, while others are workable in the elementary gymnasium. I don’t know about you, but my budget is super small, so I have to be picky and frugal about what I purchase!
My goal is that you read through the critiques, find something that inspires you and think to yourself, “This Sounds Like Fun!” Please feel free to share YOUR experiences and ideas with me! I am always looking for a great elementary musical.
